We are happy to ring out the year 2020.
This past year has been the hardest of the hardest of the didn't-know-it-could-ever-be-this-hard years.
We looked soooooo forward in January to 2020 being a year of "clarity" as we called it. We were energized and super focused on continuing to surprise and delight at Blōōfin.
We looked forward to expand our Blōō fam.
Then ALL of our worlds changed. We all know how hard this year has been, but we couldn't have imagined the reality - or surreality - at the beginning of it. Our hearts broke when we had to say temporary goodbyes to so many of our amazing staff. It was a shock to the system and to their passions and livelihoods. We look forward to the day when we can welcome them all back.
But this message is not to issue a bummer thumbs down yelp review of 2020.
It is to THANK YOU, from the bottom of our hearts, for all of the incredible words of encouragement and support, and just plain amazing levels of humanity demonstrated to us and to our teams along the way - - from dropping off food to us (what!? we feed YOU), to coming in for takeout every week or when you can, to purchasing gift certificates, to dining with us in person, to personal notes of encouragement that hang in our kitchens and offices and more random acts of kindness. And our hearts are warm knowing that we have made so many more new friends in Spring/ Woodland community. We haven't known you for very long but we know that we will.
We are so incredibly grateful for the continued support and love. We give it right back to you now and will even more when we can see everyone again. We look forward to that time and it's not far away. I saw a Ted talk recently about being "stubbornly optimistic". Well, that's exactly what we are right now.
We also thank our incredibly resilient, brilliant, creative, warriors-with-hearts staff who have been brave enough to muscle through the constant rule changing and pivots of the last few months. They have been inspirational. The team's collective energy and enthusiasm has been unwaning even in the face of such adversity.
We close this challenging chapter and then turn eagerly toward a fresh comeback of the world in 2021. It will take some time for vaccines to become available and folks to be comfortable with dining and celebrating and just plain enjoying themselves, but we assure you we will be waiting for you with open arms. Well, probably still with masked faces and hopefully at least elbow bumps or whatever is allowed. We are hoping for a roaring reboot.
In the meantime, we are so grateful and wish you and your families a healthy, happy and stubbornly optimistic 2021.
